I can use one pod for a full mug and it taste great. I have not tasted the others, but I am VERY please with the french vanilla. It is not strong at all.
We tried a LOT of different coffee pods as we like ours strong. We've used the Senseo machine for about a year now and due to dropping the water resevoir once too often, had to go out today to pick up a new unit. Of course we HAD to 'break it in' tonight so we'd be ready to roll in the morning, hehe. If you're coffee junkies like us, the speed at which these pod machines crank out our 'medicine' is terrific on a busy morning.
(read: whew. expensive). I'm looking forward to trying the new Cappucino and Latte specialty pods that they're bringing out, but am a little concerned that they only come 8 pods/pkg. I keep the brewer right on the corner of the coffee table and we make shot after shot until we've got our 'fix', LOL.
The locking system on the B&D is a little more awkward, but seems to lock it down tighter than the Senseo. We also add the French Vanilla (sugar free) CoffeeMate & Splenda to make it "just right". Sear's had clearance price on the Black & Decker so that's what we have now. We found that by brewing with 2 pods, one being a French Vanilla (Home Cafe) and the other being a Yuban, and brewing the small portion size, one can get a nice strong cuppa that rivals Starbucks (especially since most of them now have switched over to the 'new' machines which brews the espresso much weaker & we end up having 1 or 2 EXTRA shots (at 55 cents each) added to our Americanos).
Maybe next time around. I think the Black & Decker has a better resevoir system over the Senseo, but basically they perform about the same. I'd love to have the double cup pod brewer I saw at Sears made by Braun, but at $153, I find that not too appealing compared to a $39 B&D.
I recommend Senseo's version because it works with also works with Home Cafe and has a stronger, earthier taste (5stars). This coffee tasted bland.
Drink fast, or do what I do and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds or so. It is brewed hot-ish, but quickly goes cold. Otherwise I'd have given it a five star rating. It's easy to use and makes a flavorful cup of coffee. It's only downfall is that I like my coffee HOT, not lukewarm.
They taste like instant coffee and a weak instant coffee at that. I tried both Regular and Decaf. You have to use two pods even for a small cup to produce bearable coffee. I was really disappointed with the taste of these coffee pods. Being made by Folger I expected a decent cup of coffee.
